ABOUT ME

Originally starting with the
blog
Dragons, Zombies and Aliens
, I've since branched out in my speculative fiction writing. (For the uninitiated: "speculative fiction" is an umbrella term for fantasy, science fiction, horror, paranormal, supernatural, superhero, etc. Basically, it's all the fun stuff.)
In addition to reviews, I've published several short stories, articles and novellas for both adult and teen audiences. All of my writing is done through a feminist/social justice lens. No damsels in distress. No stereotyped people of color acting as comic relief. No unnecessary romantic subplot that does nothing for the story except reduce the woman lead into a sex object. My goal is to change the landscape of speculative fiction writing and media entirely. And I'm not the only one. There are several books, movies, and shows that already do this. They're just hard to find, thanks to being buried by all the cheap mainstream crap we're all sick of. That's why I've started a YouTube channel so I could find and share these incredible stories and writers. But I can't do it alone. So if you know any good books I've missed or movies that you think everyone must see, share it! Post it on my Facebook page , hit me up on Twitter or Instagram , or just send me an email . |
Out Now: The Minnesotan Witch and Gary the Gecko
A lesbian angel hunts demons during the apocalypse. Disney lied about what mermaids actually look like and how well they (don't) sing. An ambitious gecko plays matchmaker.

"Join the DFMC, they said. It'll be fun, they said. They left out the part where I get impaled by unicorns, shot by wannabe witches, and buried under twenty feet of snow."
Nate Johnson is the rookie agent at the Department of Fae and Magical Creatures (DFMC), an underground agency dedicated to keeping the Fae world and the mortal world separate. After almost getting killed and eaten alive by a unicorn ("I didn't realize that I technically counted as a virgin, okay?!"), Nate and his legendary partner Agent Arnold Grant are sent to Minnesota. Half a dozen people have gone missing, and the suspect is the mysterious, reclusive Black Witch. But not all as is it appears, and by the time Nate manages to dig himself out of the Minnesota snow, everything he thought he knew about the two worlds will be turned upside-down. Join Nate on his adventure with "The Minnesotan Witch!" |
